About Dr. Nguyen

Dr. Nguyen is double board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He moved fromVietnam to the United States when he was 15 years old and can speak Vietnamese fluently. He was fellowship-trained in Pain medicine at University of Colorado School of Medicine. Prior to this, he received Bachelor of Art in Biochemistry at University of Colorado Boulder. He then attended medical school also at University of Colorado School of Medicine. After that, he went on to Anesthesiology residency at University of Colorado Hospital.

Dr. Nguyen’s interest in chronic pain was first initiated during his time growing up in Vietnam where the condition was largely unaddressed due to lack or resources and recognition. Seeing people around him, including his relatives suffered from chronic pain gave him a deep sympathy for them. He always hoped to have the opportunity to do something that will help to reduce their suffering and improve their functionality and quality of life. His interests in pain medicine were further enhanced during his training in the United States, especially during his residency where he gained valuable experience with challenging conditions. He believes in a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach in treating pain. He acknowledges that chronic pain does not only cause physical strain, but it also cause emotional, social, and psychological stress as well.

Outside of work, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, and playing soccer.
